BECKON ME by Cindy Thomas

Available April 13, 2015

Everything nineteen-year-old Karina Mitchell knows about death changes the instant that she and her best friend, Rainey, are shot. For one, souls don’t die. They cross over. Only, Rainey’s soul hasn’t, and her ghost is hell bent on haunting Karina.

When Karina begins her sophomore year of college and moves into the apartment that she was supposed to share with Rainey, she learns a few shocking truths from her mysterious and gorgeous blue-eyed neighbor, Eli.

One: Karina has been chosen to become a Beckoner—an immortal conduit of the dead who helps safely guide souls to the other side.

Two: She’s the reason that Rainey’s soul can’t cross over—Rainey followed her back from death and missed her window to be at peace.

Three: Eli is hot. As in swoon-worthy, to-die-for, will-make-you-forget-yourself hot. And it turns out, Eli is a Beckoner, too.

Despite her attraction to Eli, the decision to become a Beckoner isn’t an easy one—it would mean giving up her own mortality … her own soul. But if she doesn’t, her best friend will be left to suffer an eternity at the hands of the evil Ceptors, dark creatures that feed on the souls left behind. After all, it’s her fault Rainey is haunting her.

Time is running out, and Karina needs to decide: Are love and loyalty worth sacrificing her soul?

BECKON ME is a dark but sweet NA paranormal romance for both NA and upper YA readers, ages 16 and up.

About the Author:

tmF9mt0L

Cindy has dreamed of being an author since third grade when she won a writing contest for a story she wrote about her deceased great aunt. She hasn’t been able to ignore that dream since and chooses to spend most of her free time listening to the voices in her head and writing their stories.

Outside of her writing and working for Spencer Hill Press, Cindy is happily married and has three young boys. She lives in PA, but was born and raised in NC. Even though she’s lived in the northern half of the US for ten years, she still very much misses grits for breakfast and every now and then goes on a country music binge.

Blog Tour Sign Up-FREAKS OF NATURE by Wendy Brotherlin

About FREAKS OF NATURE:

The global Ebola-X pandemic of 2022 lasted five months, two weeks, and six days before a cure could be found. In its wake, it left a generation of psionic freaks, who can turn a single thought into a weapon…or worse.

Fifteen-year-old Devon McWilliams is one of those freaks, but Devon rates a big fat zero on the scale of cool psychic abilities. Days after escaping from his psionic detainment facility, the military intercepts him. Regaining consciousness, Devon finds himself restrained aboard a military airship headed toward certain death.

Aboard this one-way flight to doom are six other psions. One of them, a telepath named Bai Lee Chen, claims to have the means to escape. All the others have to do is convince her that they’re worthy of freedom by allowing her to telepathically replay their memories. The last thing Devon wants to do is reveal his useless plant-talking prowess to this destroy-you-with-a-thought crew. To complicate matters further, he’s crushing hard on Alya, the group’s lovely healer. Devon knows he must keep his wits about him if he’s going to survive this wild ride. And that’s going to be a tricky thing to do around a telepath who seems to have a diabolical agenda all her own.

Review: FOLLOW ME THROUGH DARKNESS by Danielle Ellison

Happy Release Day to Danielle and FMTD!!!

*dances around the room throwing confetti*

*About the Book*

The truth won't always set you free.

Less than a year ago, Neely Ambrose’s biggest worry was having the freedom to follow a path that wasn't chosen for her.

Less than a year ago, she believed she could trust the Elders who said they had everyone’s best interest at heart and who said they were keeping them safe from the outside.

Sixty days ago, she discovered what they had planned for everyone she loved—and that all of it centered around her.
Now she’s on the run through a dangerous wasteland full of killing machines, secret organizations, and people who want to sell her back to the Elders for their own safety. The whole world outside the Compound is living proof that everything in Neely’s life was a lie manufactured by the Elders, which may even include the boy she loves.

All Neely wants is the truth, but each new piece of it drives her further from what she thought she knew. With only forty days until everyone she loves falls under the Elders’ mind control, Neely must decipher who to trust, what questions to ask, and how to get one step ahead of the Elders, who will do anything to keep their secrets buried.

*My Review*

Ack. This book about killed me. I loved everything about it, from the kick butt characters to the awesome setting. Danielle weaves a fantastic tale about love, friendship, and heartbreak. Her pattern of writing the story in true time and then flashing back to previous dates really sets the story and allows the reader to understand what is happening without having to have started the story from Neely's childhood. I found that I was experiencing many of the same emotions as Neely and even the other characters, mainly Bayard, Thorne, and Xenith.

Throughout the story, Neely is learning many life lessons and testing boundaries, whether they are her own or someone else's. One day life is perfect and she couldn't imagine anything else, then she realizes there is more to their life in the Compound and she sets out to discover what is the truth and what is a lie. She is determined, strong, courageous and her love for her family and need to save them and everyone else keeps her going. I plan to reread this one soon and I can't wait to see what is in store next!

*Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Danielle Ellison spent of her childhood reading instead of learning math. It's probably the reason she can't divide without a calculator and has spent her life seeking the next adventure. It's also probably the reason she's had so many different zip codes and jobs.

When she’s not writing, Danielle is usually drinking coffee, fighting her nomadic urges, watching too much TV, or dreaming of the day when she can be British. Danielle is also the author of SALT and STORM, a series about a snarky witch without magic. She has settled in Northern Virginia, for now, but you can always find her on twitter @DanielleEWrites.

It’s crazy, and that’s what I keep telling myself, but it feels right. Like a missing piece has been put back into place. It’s been three hundred years. Of course there’s life outside. And if the Elders are trying to stop it from coming in, then it’s no wonder they aren’t involved in our lives here. They’re trying to be everywhere. The question I can’t understand is why no one asks about the Old World. Hasn’t anyone else wondered?

I shake my head. The air is tense around us, as if the wind is holding its breath, too. Waiting to see what I do. Thorne looks at me, his eyes unsure and hard. He teeters, his weight on his toes. His eyes rest on me, and after a couple seconds, he shoves his hands into his pockets.

“We’ve got some supplies for your journey. Food, mostly. The others have been contacted and will be waiting for you. But there’s nothing except more trouble waiting.”

“I’ve experienced the Cleaners and—”

“We have more enemies than the Cleaners. The life of a Remnant is not a simple one.”

“What kind of enemies?” I ask.

Cecily’s eye is pea-sized and bleak. There is no emotion, as if it’s only a lifeless dark marble. Empty and desolate, but not without power. For in that bleak, dark eye, I see my own fear.
“The kind that will kill you without question,” she says.
